APPENDIX REFERENCE I
Below are the steps to perform to prepare the drive(s) for Novell, UNIX, or OS/2
installation:
1. Set both primary and secondary controllers according to Appendix
Reference II.
2. Follow Sections 3.1 and 3.3, Pages 5-8, to set up and connect ESDI drives
to both primary and secondary controllers.
3. Follow Section 4.1.1, Page 10, for BIOS setup to both controllers and set
the mapping mode for all the drives as below:
The Mapping Mode for all drives is as follows:
One Spare Sector/Trk NO
Sector Mapping NO *
Track Mapping NO
1024 Cyl Truncation NO
* Select 63 Sector Mapping mode if the drive sector per track number is
more then 63, as with most 20 MHz ESDI drives, otherwise select no
mapping for sector and track options.
4. Follow Section 4.1.2, for both primary and secondary controllers.
