1173 PREAMPLIFIER/COMPRESSOR
Quick Start Guide (Continued)
3. If compression is desired:
Set Comp/Bypass switch to Compress (up)
Adjust Preamp Out control for desired amount of compression.
Turn Preamp Out control up (clockwise) for more compression
Turn Preamp Out control down (counter-clockwise) for less compression
Adjust Attack and Release controls for desired sound.
Attack:
Slower attack times (turning the control counter-clockwise) will allow more transient
(“attack” of the note) through.
If you find your sound is lacking high frequency detail, try making the attack slower.
Faster attack times (turning the control clockwise) will create more compression and
make the entire note closer to the same volume.
Release:
Slower release times (turning the control counter-clockwise) will make the length of the
musical note shorter.
Faster release times (turning the control clockwise) will increase the length of musical
notes.
If you hear distortion, particularly on low frequency sounds, try a slower release time.
