What can the Property Exit Sensor be used for?
The property exit sensor is used to raise an alarm if a resident leaves their home or if they accidently leave their front door open.
It works by monitoring a combination of the front door being opened/closed and movement in the hallway.
Scenario 1:
if the door is opened and closed followed by movement in the hallway it is assumed a visitor has entered or the
resident has answered a call at the door and no alarm is raised.
Scenario 2:
if the door is opened and closed followed by no movement in the hallway it is assumed the resident has left their
home and a “
door exit
” alarm will be raised.
Scenario 3:
if the door is opened and left open followed by no movement in the hallway it is assumed the resident has left their
home
and a “
door exit
” alarm will be raised.
Scenario 4:
if the door is opened and left open followed by movement in the hallway it is assumed the resident has left their door
open and a “
door open
” alarm will be raised.
For a visitor to leave without raising an alarm they must first open the door then swipe the PIR down the right hand side with the
magnetic fob then close the door behind them.
The PIR only begins to look for activity AFTER the door is opened - the time period the PIR is active for is
adjustable from 10 seconds to 90 minutes. If the PIR is not activated during this period an alarm call is raised.
Where should the Property Exit Sensor be fitted?
Use the wall mounting bracket provided and fix the PIR approx 2 metres high and approx 1 metre inside the front door.
The PIR should be adjusted to point down the hallway AWAY from the door, see below;
If there are pets in the home the PIR should be mounted at low level (1m) and the PCB should be set to the PET ALLEY position.
The door contact should be fitted on the front door and wired back to the PIR using the cable provided.
Avoid placing items in front of the PIR detector
which may restrict its field of view
Do not expose the PIR detector to wind, air
conditioning or heating
Do not expose the PIR detector to direct sunlight
or powerful lights
Do not drop the PIR detector or expose to high
vibration or shock
Do not expose the PIR detector to rapid variation
in temperature
