4-14 Terminal Operation
PRISM 3021
Remote Comm Channel: This field is used to select an
unused idle channel for a communication link to a far-end
unit. A DS0 channel (1 through 31) may be assigned or 0
selected to disable this option. If 0 is selected, communica-
tion can be established using national bits.
When the remote communication is selected, test conditions
such as a remote network LLB or PLB or a local network
LLB interrupt access to the far-end unit.
If far-end communication is interrupted for any
reason while accessing the remote unit, exit and
then reenter this screen to ensure that all the
parameters have been updated.
E1-DTE Line Code: This field is used to set the DTE side
line coding as either AMI or HDB3.
E1-DTE Channel: This field is used to select channels to
be assigned to the E1/DTE from 1 through 31. Channel 16
cannot be selected for E1-DTE applications if E1-NET
Framing is set to CAS or CAS CRC
Settings: Selects the channel to be either IDLE or THRU.
Channel Allocation: This display-only field indicates the
network channel assignments with Channel 1 on the left and
Channel 31 on the right.
Non-assigned idle channels are marked with a dash (-).
Remote communication channels are marked with an R.
Port numbers are used to represent channels assigned to the
port.
When channels are assigned to a port in the Alternate
assignment mode (see DS0 Channel Assignment on page 4 -
16), each data channel is followed by an idle channel that is
not assignable for other ports and is marked with an X.
E1-DTE channels are shown with a D.
Signal channels are marked with an S. Channel 0 is always
reserved for framing and does not appear on the screen.
channel 16 is an S for signaling if CAS framing is selected.
If CAS is not selected, channel 16 is available for other use.
