4. TRANSPORTATION
Lift the machine with the tractor three point linkage until the machine is sufficiently clear from
the ground. Make sure that the depth control roller cannot touch the ground.
For transport on public roads, all local road regulations should be observed, including the
maximum allowable transport width. Use all lighting and warning signals as required by local
road regulations.
Make sure that there is enough weight on the front axle of the tractor so that there is enough
steering power. Fit front weights if necessary. See your tractor’s manual for more information.
5. PREPARING THE MACHINE FOR WORK
5.1. Checking the machine
Check if any maintenance has to be done. See chapter 8. Only work with a machine that is well
maintained.
5.2. Adjusting the working depth of the discs
The working depth of the MULTIDISC is controlled by the roller
setting. The higher the roller is positioned compared to the discs,
the deeper the machine will work, and vice versa. The roller setting
can be changed by moving the roller arm pins to another hole. See
Image 1. Make sure to always choose the same holes on both sides
of the machine.
5.3. Adjusting the top link
Adjust the length of the top link so that the machine is completely level when in working position.
Because the Multidisc XL VARIO is a relatively long machine, it is very sensitive to top link
adjustment. Half a turn on the top link can make the difference between the machine working
well or not.
If the top link is too short, the tine angle becomes too aggressive. When the tines are disabled, the
machine may want to run to the left-hand side, and the surface finish may be uneven and cloddy
due to not having enough weight on the roller.
If the top link is too long, the front row of discs will not do a proper job. There will be more
weight on the roller and less on the discs, which can cause penetration issues or clogging in some
fields. When the tines are disabled, the machine may want to run to the right-hand side.
