Manual Operation – Link Modes
In addition to independent output operation, described in the Manual Operation – Independent
Mode chapter, the instrument is capable of operating in a number of different tracking modes
which can be activated from the LINK MENU.
If either output is under analogue control then pressing ‘LINK MENU’ displays
Analog Control,
No link possible
. Providing analogue control is not been selected for either output the LINK
MENU will open showing which modes are currently possible.
There are 5 options, listed below:
Tracking Off
Entering this mode is always possible because it sets both outputs to independent control.
Entering this mode does not change the settings on either output.
Track Voltage (V2 = V1)
Entering this mode is only possible if Output 2 is off. Entering this mode sets V2 to match the set
point of V1. It does not automatically change the range on Output 2 to match Output 1 so this
mode cannot be entered if V1 is set above 60V unless the 0-80V range is first selected for V2.
Track Existing Voltage Ratio
Entering this mode puts V2 under the control of V1 by a fixed ratio. The ratio is determined on
entry; both V1 and V2 must be >1V to enter this mode to permit the ratio to be determined with
sufficient accuracy.
Track V & I. Show Total V
To enter this mode both outputs must be off; on entry the set points for V2, I2 and V2 range are
copied from Output 1. The individual output enable buttons no longer work and the ‘BOTH ON’
and ‘BOTH OFF’ buttons must be used instead. The display shows the individual figures for
voltage and current on each output together with the sum of the two voltages.
This mode is useful if the two outputs are wired in series to produce a high voltage output.
Note:
there is no connection between the two outputs internally.
Track V & I. Show Total I
To enter this mode both outputs must be off; on entry the set points for V2, I2 and V2 range are
copied from Output 1. The individual output enable buttons no longer work and the ‘BOTH ON’
and ‘BOTH OFF’ buttons must be used instead. The display shows the individual figures for
voltage and current on each output together with the sum of the two currents. This mode is useful
if the two outputs are wired in parallel to produce a high current output.
Note:
there is no connection between the two outputs internally. Note that the output terminals are
rated at 60A maximum; if paralleling the outputs to source higher currents than this the junction
should be made at a separate point, not at one of the terminals.
