(9) Squelch Level
The adjustable Squelch allows you to optimise the radios
sensitivity. It also allows you to increase the sensitivity and
receive weaker signals.
There are 8 decreasing levels of sensitivity. 1 is the most
sensitive, for detecting the weakest signals. 8 is the least
sensitive, for hearing only stronger signals and cutting out
interference from weak signals.
At higher sensitivity settings it is normal to hear continual
background static noise. Generally you should set the squelch
level to the first setting which removes background static noise.
To change the Squelch level setting, press the FUNCTION
button until SqL appears. Use the up or down button to change
the setting. Press the PTT or FUNCTION button or wait for
5 seconds to store your choice.
(12) Key Lock
To avoid changing the channel or function settings accidentally
this radio has a lock function.
To activate or deactivate the lock press and hold the FM/Lock
button for at least 2 seconds. The Key Lock icon will appear
when the Key Lock is active. The Power, PTT, Flash, Call and
Volume adjustment are unaffected by the Lock.
(11) Monitor
The Monitor function is used to check for activity on the current
channel regardless of privacy code settings. It also sets the
squelch to minimum and will detect weaker signals.
To activate or deactivate the Monitor press the Mode/Monitor
button for at least 2 seconds. The Monitor icon will appear when
the Monitor is active. When activated it is normal to hear
background static noise.
(10) Call Alert
To alert other users to your message and gain their attention
you can send a Call Alert melody by pressing the CALL button.
There are three different call alert tones.
To change the Call Alert melody, press the FUNCTION button
until CAL appears. Use the up or down button to change the
setting. Press the PTT or FUNCTION button or wait for 5
seconds to store your choice.
