Observe Service Intervals
A repair shop or person of the owner’s choosing may
maintain, replace, or repair emission control devices and
systems. However, warranty service must be performed
by an authorized John Deere service facility except in the
case of emergency.
In an emergency, where an authorized John Deere service
location is not available, repairs may be performed at any
available service establishment, or by the owner, using
any replacement part, provided such parts are warranted
by their manufacturer to be the equivalent of John Deere
parts in performance and durability and the failure does
not arise from the owner’s failure to perform required
maintenance.
Using hour meter (A) as a guide, perform all services at
the hourly intervals indicated on following pages. At each
scheduled maintenance interval, perform all previous
maintenance operations in addition to the ones specified.
Keep a record of hourly intervals and services performed,
using charts provided in Lubrication and Maintenance
Records section.
IMPORTANT: Recommended service intervals are
for normal operating conditions. Perform
maintenance at interval which occurs first,
for example, either at 500 hours of operation
or every 12 months. Service more often if

engine operated under adverse conditions.
Neglecting maintenance can result in failures
or permanent damage to the engine.
Perform all services at the hourly intervals. Record the
services performed in the Lubrication and Maintenance
Records Section. When scheduled service at any hourly
level is performed, also perform all subordinate hourly
level services.

Use Correct Fuels, Lubricants, and Coolant
IMPORTANT: Use only fuels, lubricants, and
coolants meeting specifications outlined in
Fuels, Lubricants, and Coolant Section when
servicing your John Deere Engine.
Consult your John Deere Servicing Distributor or your

fuels, lubricants, and coolant. Also available are
necessary additives for use when operating engines in
tropical, arctic, or any other adverse conditions.
