*) Specialist knowledge required for the installation:
In particular, the following expertise is required for installation:
•  the applicable “5 safety rules”: Switch off power; secure against switching back

on; determine voltage-free status; earthing and short-circuiting; cover or fence off

nearby live parts

•  Choose appropriate tools, meters and, if necessary, personal protective equipment
•  Evaluation of the measurement results
•  Selection of the electrical installation material to ensure the shutdown conditions
•  IP protection types
•  Installation of the electrical installation material
•  Type of mains supply network (TN system, IT system, TT system) and the con-

nection conditions that follow from them (classical earthing, protective earthing,

required additional measures, etc.)

If you do not have the expertise required for the installation, do not install it

yourself, but entrust the work to a qualified electrician.

a) General information

•  The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not allowed for

safety and approval reasons.

•  Maintenance, adjustment or repair work may only be carried out by an expert/author-

ised service centre familiar with the hazards involved and the relevant regulations.

•  The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children! There

is danger of a life-threatening electric shock! Install the product out of the reach

of children.

•  Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong vibrations,

high humidity, moisture, combustible gases, vapours and solvents.

•  Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows or falls even

from a low height.

•  Do not leave the packaging material lying around carelessly as it may be a danger

to children.

•  On industrial sites, the accident prevention regulations of the association of the

industrial workers‘ society for electrical equipment and utilities must be followed!

•  Consult a qualified technician, if you are not sure how to operate or how to safely

connect the equipment.

•  Maintenance, adjustment and repair work should only be carried out by an expert

or a specialist workshop.

•  If you have any questions that are not answered in these operating instructions,

please contact our technical customer service or other technicians.

b) Connection

•  Item no. 1661882 and 1661883:

The construction of the product corresponds to protection class II (double or rein-

forced insulation). However, an internal connector for the protective earth conduc-

tor is provided. The product may thus be used for with protection class II and with

protection class I luminaires. A mains cable with protective earth conductor must

be used for luminaires of protection class I. The protective earth conductor of the

mains cable must be connected to the protective earth conductor of the connected

luminaire. Failure to observe this poses a danger to life from electric shock!

•  Item no. 1661885 and 1661886:

The construction of the dimmer corresponds to protection class II (double or rein-

forced insulation). Only a luminaire of protection class II can be connected to the

dimmer. Do not connect luminaires to this dimmer that require a protective earth

conductor! There is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!

•  Make the connection only after ensuring the absence of any voltage/ current.
•  Ensure that the insulation of the housing is neither damaged nor destroyed.
•  The mains socket to which the product is connected must be easily accessible.
•  Never overload the product. Note the maximum load capacity in the chapter “Tech-

nical data”.

•  Observe the minimum load capacity in the chapter “Technical data”. Malfunction-

ing may occur if the minimum load capacity is not reached.

c) Operation

•  The product is not a toy. Devices operated on mains voltage should not be used by

children. Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
Use the product where it is out of the reach of children.

•  Do not use the product in rooms with adverse environmental conditions, where

combustible gases, vapours or dust are or may be present! There is a danger of

explosion!

•  Connecting to the mains voltage and operating the product is only permissible if

the housing is closed.

•  Never use the product in a vehicle.
•  Install all cables in such a way that nobody may trip over them.
•  Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows or falls even

from a low height.

•  Avoid the following unfavourable ambient conditions at the installation point or

during transportation or storage:

structions which should be absolutely observed.

The arrow symbol indicates specific tips and advice on operation.

The product is designed according to protection Class II (reinforced or double insu-

lation, protective insulation).

The product is only intended to be installed and used in dry indoor spaces; it must

not get damp or wet.

  Observe the operating instructions.

Safety instructions
