5.7 Tea strainer
You can replace the lid of the kettle with the tea strainer. See the
illustration.
In order to open the strainer, rotate it slightly in an anticlockwise direction.
Add the tea and close the strainer again.
Put the tea strainer on instead of the lid.
Use the plunger to determine when and for how long the tea is supposed to
brew.
CAUTION
Bring maximal 1.2 liters (TeaMax) of water to the boil.
The tea strainer should only be immersed in water if the
desired temperature has been reached.
The tea strainer will continue to drip!
Using the temperature indicators you can heat the water to the perfect temperature for the kind of
tea you like. There are many types of teas and they vary not only in taste, but in proper preparation.
Some teas taste wonderful steeped in just-boiled water while other teas such as the delicate green
and whites, are more temperature sensitive and offer the best aroma and taste when steeped in lower
temperature water. Ideal steeping temperatures vary based on the type of tea.
You can use the table below to make
an estimation for the ideal temperature
and time the tea needs to steep.
Black tea: 90- 100 °C, 3 to 5 minutes
Oolong tea: 70- 80 °C, 1 to 3 minutes
Green tea: 80- 90 °C, 1 to 3 minutes
Herb tea: 90- 100 °C, 3 to 5 minutes
White tea: 70- 80 °C, 1 to 2 minutes
