Pre-Installation

This section provides the following pre-installation information:

Mounting location

Transformer considerations

Recommended configurations

Mounting Location

Important:

The power supply module must be mounted onto a DIN rail inside an enclosure that

meets all local electrical codes.

Observe the following:

The enclosure must allow for the minimum 1.8 in. (4.6 cm) vent clearance around the top and

bottom of the power supply vents.

The mounting location must meet the temperature and humidity specifications of the power

supply as outlined in

Table 3, p. 9

.

Do not mount the power supply module on a flat surface, such as on a floor or on top of a table.
Mount in an upright position with the front facing outward.

Transformer Considerations

Follow these guidelines when using transformers:

Transformers must be class 2 rated.

Non-class 2 transformers must be fused appropriately.

Fully loaded power supply modules require 75 VA transformers.

The transformer size can be reduced for smaller loads on the power supply module; however,

transformers less than 20 VA should not be used.

Table 3

shows the recommended transformer VA

based on the PM014 output current.
