6. Using the Tractelift™ Type II during Ascent
Never set the remote to a higher weight than
the current user weight.
First time users should test the remote at the
lowest setting to gain a comfort level of the
pulling system, before adjusting to the users
current weight.
Only one person allowed to be connected
during use!
The Tractelift™ Type II does not protect against
the hazard of falling! During
climbing / descending the ladder,
personal protection equipment
must be used: Harness with
appropriate life line fall arrester
used on a fall protection system (ANSI Z359,
CSA Z259 and EU directive 89/391/EEC)
6.1) Power supply:
a. Make sure the power being supplied is the
same as the Tractelift Type II provided either
110 V - 1 PH, 50/60 Hz, (15 amp) (UL/CSA) or
220 V - 1 PH, 50/60 Hz, (10 amp) (EU -
2006/42/EC) and plug in the control box to the
approved power supply (by qualified person).
b. Turn the key of the
service switch
(Fig. 12) to
the right – the
EMERGENCY-STOP-button
comes out, the signal lamp illuminates green.
The Tractelift™ Type II is ready for use

6.2) Select user weight on remote:
Two user remotes are available, Blue rubber casing for
users between 102 - 160lbs. (51 - 80 kg) and a Red
rubber casing for users between 160 - 250lbs. (80 - 125
kg). (Fig. 13).
Never set the remote to a higher weight than the
current users weight.
To set your weight into the remote push and hold the
stop button on the remote, and at the same time press
up or down button to increase or decrease to your body
weight (Fig. 14 & 15). The remote allows increments of
10 lbs (5 kg) from - 100 - 150lbs (50- 75 kg) or 160 -
250lbs (80 - 125 kg). If the user is between 2 settings, it
is recommended selecting the lower weight setting.
It is
recommended that first time users should test the
remote at the lowest setting to gain a comfort level
of the pulling system, before adjusting to their
weight limit.
To change direction either from increasing
or decreasing weight press the stop button again and
select the reverse direction. The remote will retain the
weight of the last weight entry.
6.3) Check Harness:
Confirm the harness is connected to your fall
arrest system and to the remote control and belt
grab, and
check all the locking carabiners
are
correctly closed
. See section 4 and 5 for
additional details pages 8 and 9.
6.4) To start the Tractelift™ Type II:
Once users weight is set press the direction (UP
or Down) key and the system will ramp up to
speed and continue to run while it detects climber
movement. Once climbing has begun and the
system has activated when pausing mid climb, to
re-activate the system press the direction key on
the remote or manually by taking the belt grab and
pulling on the round belt upwards by climbing one
or two steps. Continue to climb the ladder as
normal. If you have paused your climb longer
than 10 seconds you must re-activate by pressing
the direction key on the remote. (Note: the green
signal lamp will flash on the control box when the
system is in use).
