The smart entry and start system consists
mainly of the following functions.

Engine immobiliser function. For details,
see “Engine immobiliser system” on page
16 in this Section.

Wireless remote control function. For de-
tails, see “Wireless remote control” on
page 17 in this Section.

Push button start function. For details,
see “How to start the engine” on page 200
in Section 3.

Entry function and start function. See

People with implanted pacemakers or
cardiac defibrillators should keep
away from smart entry and start sys-
tem antennas. This is because the
radio waves may affect the operation
of such devices. See “ANTENNA LO-
CATION” on page 26 in this Section.

Users of any electrical medical device
other than implanted pacemakers and
cardiac defibrillators should consult
the manufacturer of the device for in-
formation about its operation under
the influence of radio waves. This is
because the radio waves could have
unexpected affects on the operation
of such medical devices.

If necessary, the entry function can be
disabled.

Start function
ENTRY FUNCTION AND START FUNCTION
Simply by carrying the key, you can lock
and unlock the doors and start the engine.
Entry function—
You can lock and unlock the doors and open
the boot lid without inserting the key in the
keyholes. For further information, see “Side
doors” on page 29 and “Boot lid” on page 35
in this Section.
Start function—
You can shift the power sup-
ply mode and start the engine when the elec-
tronic key is in the vehicle. For further in-
formation, see “Ignition switch
