Important safety instructions
If you are not thoroughly familiar with the operation of drill presses, obtain
advice from a Tournevie instructor or other qualified person. Courses on safe
tool operation are organized on a regular basis.
Always wear eye protection.
Do not wear gloves, a necktie, or loose clothing. Keep long hair tucked in.
Always disconnect the tool from the power source when setting up, adjusting,
or changing accessories. Never perform layout, assembly or set-up work on
the table while the drill is operating.
Adjust the table or depth stop to avoid drilling into the table.
Use the recommended speed for the drill and workpiece material.
Before turning power ON, make sure:
- the belt guard is down;
- the drill bit is not damaged and is securely locked in the chuck;
- the chuck key is removed from the chuck;
- all lock handles are tightened;
- the table is clear of all objects (tools, scrap pieces, etc.).
Always keep hands and fingers away from the drill bit or cutting tool. Never
place your fingers in a position where they could contact the drill or other
cutting tool if the workpiece should unexpectedly shift.
Never use your hand to hold the object while drilling. Always clamp the object
tight on the worktable or use a drill vise to prevent accidental injury.
Brace long workpieces against the left side of the column to prevent rotation.
Do not attempt to drill material that does not have a flat surface, unless a
suitable support is used. When drilling large workpieces, make sure the
material is supported at table height.
Always allow the drill press to stop before removing scrap pieces from the
table.
Shut off the power, remove the drill bit or cutting tool, and clean the table and
work area before leaving the machine.
Should any part of the tool be missing or damaged in any way, or should any
component fail to perform properly, shut off the switch and remove the plug
from power supply outlet. Alert a Tournevie responsible immediately.
Refer to these instructions frequently and use them to instruct other users.
