If the gap is less than 0.25 mm (0.01
inch), then install the shim; refer to

safety check in step

Perform the following safety check:
i.
Sit on the seat and start the engine.
ii.
Make sure that the blades do not
engage with the blade-control switch
(PTO) in the O
FF
position, and that
the clutch is disengaged.
If the clutch does not disengage,
install the shim again; refer to
Troubleshooting (page 71)

iii.
Engage and disengage the
blade-control switch (PTO) 10
consecutive times to ensure that the
clutch is functioning properly.

cooling and correct engine speed and reduces the
possibility of overheating and mechanical damage to

Every 100 hours/Yearly (whichever
comes first)
1.
Disengage the blade-control switch (PTO) and
engage the parking brake.
2.
Shut off the engine, remove the key, and wait
for all moving parts to stop before leaving the
operating position.
3.
Remove the air-intake screen, the recoil starter,
and the fan housing (
).
4.
Clean the debris and grass from the engine
parts.
5.
Install the air-intake screen, the recoil starter,
and the fan housing (
).
