Transaxle Fluid
Service Interval/Specification
Check the fluid level every 25 hours. Always keep
the fluid level in the correct operating range on the
dipstick when the transaxle is cold.
Fluid Type: SAE 10W–30 Detergent oil (API service
SG, SH or above)
Checking the Fluid Level
1.
Park the machine on a level surface.
2.
Disengage the power take off (PTO), set the
parking brake, lower the attachment lift, and turn
the ignition key to “STOP” to stop the engine.
Remove the ignition key.
3.
Tilt the seat up.
4.
Clean around the transmission dipstick (Fig. 45)
so dirt cannot fall into the filler hole and damage
the transaxle.

5.
Pull out the transmission dipstick and wipe the
metal end clean (Fig. 45).
6.
Slide the dipstick fully into the filler tube
(Fig. 5). Pull the dipstick out and look at the
metal end. When the transaxle is cold, oil should
be in the operating range, below the FULL line
on the dipstick (Fig. 46).
7.
If the oil level is low, slowly pour only enough
SAE 10W–30 detergent oil into the filler tube to
raise the level to the FULL line.
IMPORTANT: Do not fill above the FULL
line as fluid may overflow.
