Engine Maintenance
Engine Safety
•
Shut off the engine and remove the key before
checking the oil or adding oil to the crankcase.
•
Keep your hands, feet, face, clothing, and other
body parts away from the muffler and other hot
surfaces.
Servicing the Air Cleaner
Service Interval:
Before each use or daily—Check
the air-filter-service indicator.
Every 100 hours—Remove the air-cleaner
cover and clean out debris. (Clean more often
in dirty or dusty conditions.)
Yearly—Replace the air-cleaner filter.
Check the air-cleaner body for damage, which could
cause an air leak. Replace the body if it is damaged.
Check the intake system for leaks, damage, or loose
hose clamps.
Service the air-cleaner filter only when the service
indicator (
) requires it. Changing the air filter
before it is necessary increases the chance of dirt
entering the engine when you remove the filter.
