Operating the Choke
Use the choke to start a cold engine.
1. Pull up the choke knob to engage the choke
before using the key switch (
Figure 16 ).
2. Push down the choke knob to disengage the
choke after the engine has started (
Figure 16 ).

1. Turn the key to the S
TART
position ( Figure 17 ).
Note:
When the engine starts, release the key.
Important:
Do not engage the starter motor
for more than 5 seconds at a time. If the
engine fails to start, wait 10 seconds between
attempts. Failure to follow these instructions
can burn out the starter motor.
Note:
You may need multiple attempts to start
the engine when you start it the first time after
the fuel system has been without fuel completely.
