Operating the Ignition Switch
1.
Turn the ignition key to the Start position (
).
When the engines starts, release the key.
Important:
Do not engage the starter for more
than 5 seconds at a time. If the engine fails to
start, allow a 15 second cool-down period between
attempts. Failure to follow these instructions can
burn out the starter motor.
Note:
Additional starting cycles may be required
when starting the engine for the first time after the fuel
system has been without fuel completely.

Using the Fuel Shut-Off Valve
Close the fuel shut-off valve for transport, maintenance, and
storage (
Ensure that the fuel shut-off valve is open when starting the
engine.

Connect the wires to the spark plugs.
2.
Open the fuel valve.
3.
Move the right motion-control lever to neutral locked
position.
4.
Set the parking brake; refer to Setting the Parking
Brake.
5.
Move the blade-control switch (PTO) to the
Off
position.
6.
Move the throttle lever midway between the
Slow
and
Fast
positions.
Note:
A warm or hot engine may not require choking.
