5. Slide the dipstick fully into the fill port without
threading it into the port (
Figure 24 ).
6. Remove the dipstick and look at the end. If the
engine oil level is below the halfway point on the
hatchmarks, slowly pour only enough oil into the
fill port to raise the level to the halfway point on
the dipstick.
7. Install and secure the dipstick ( Figure 24 ).
Starting the Engine
1. Read Safe Operating Practices (page 4) and
understand the Controls (page 11) before
attempting to start the machine.
2. Make sure that the fuel-shutoff lever is in the
ON
position.

3. Ensure that the engine-speed-control
knob on the engine is loose by rotating it
counterclockwise (

out, and lock it by rotating it clockwise (
