Remove and retain the hardware on both sides of the
deck as shown in
Figure 99

Remove the rear deck lift attachment shoulder bolt and nut.

Remove the front deck lift attachment shoulder bolt and nut.
8.
Raise the deck struts and secure them in the up
position. Slide the deck out to the right side of the
machine.
Replacing the Grass Deflector
WARNING
Operating the machine with the engine running at
a speed greater than the factory setting can cause
the machine to throw a part of the blade or engine
at you or bystanders, resulting in serious injury or
death.
Do not operate the machine unless you install a
cover plate, mulch plate, grass deflector, or bagger.

Remove the locknut, bolt, spring, and spacer holding
the deflector to the pivot brackets (
Remove the damaged or worn grass deflector.

Place the spacer and the spring onto the grass deflector.
Place one

end of the spring behind the deck edge.
Note:
Make sure one

end of the spring is installed
behind the deck edge before installing the bolt as
shown in

Install the bolt and the nut. Place one
J
hook end of
the spring around the grass deflector (
).
Important:
The grass deflector must be able
to rotate. Lift the deflector up to the full open
position and ensure that it rotates into the full
down position.
