Installing the Knives and
Gearbox Breather
No Parts Required
Procedure
1. Install the attachment to a traction unit; refer to
Connecting to a 3-Point Hitch (page 10) and
Connecting the PTO Driveshaft (page 12) .
2. Raise the attachment off the ground.
3. Perform the following steps to shut off the
traction unit:
A. Ensure that the traction unit is parked on
a level surface.
B. Engage the parking brake.
C. Shut off the traction unit and remove the
key.
4. Lower the adjustable legs on the attachment.
5. Start the engine, carefully lower the attachment
to the ground, then shut off the engine and
remove the key.
6. Open the hatch; refer to Opening the Hatch
(page 21) .
7. Remove the loose parts from the hatch.
WARNING
The blades are sharp; contacting a blade
can result in serious personal injury.
Wear gloves when installing the blades.
8. Remove the indicated hardware in Figure 4 .

9. Use the hardware to install the knives as shown
in
Figure 4 .
Torque the hardware to 176 to 217 N∙m (130 to
160 ft-lb).
10. Install the breather to the gearbox ( Figure 5 ).
