Starter does not crank
1.
Battery is dead.

Charge the battery.

Electrical connections are
corroded or loose.

for good contact.

Relay or switch is defective.

Engine will not start, starts hard, or
fails to keep running.

Auxiliary hydraulics lever is
not in neutral position.

Fuel tank is empty.

Move lever to neutral
position.

Fill fuel tank with gasoline.

Choke is not ON.

Move choke lever to ON.

Air cleaner is dirty.

Clean or replace air cleaner
element.
5.
Spark plug wires is loose or
disconnected.

Install wires on spark plug.
6.
Spark plugs are pitted, fouled,
or gap is incorrect.

Install new, correctly gapped
spark plugs.

Dirt in fuel filter.

Replace fuel filter.

Dirt, water, or stale fuel is in
fuel system.

Engine loses power.

Engine load is excessive.

Reduce ground speed.

Air cleaner is dirty.

Clean air cleaner element.
3.
Oil level in crankcase is low.
3.
Add oil to crankcase.
4.
Cooling fins and air passages
under engine blower housing
are plugged.
4.
Remove obstruction from
cooling fins and air passages.
5.
Spark plugs are pitted, fouled,
or gap is incorrect.

Install new, correctly gapped
spark plugs.
6.
Dirt in fuel filter.

Replace fuel filter.
7.
Dirt, water, or stale fuel is in
fuel system.

Contact Authorized Service
Dealer.
Engine overheats.
1.
Engine load is excessive.

Reduce ground speed.
