5. Take a half sheet of newspaper and crumple it into a
ball small enough to go under the deck (about three

6. Place the ball of newspaper five inches in front of the
lawn mower (Fig. 10).
7. Start the engine.
8. Push the control bar down to its lowest position
(Fig. 11).

Lift control bar to the normal blade engaged position
(about one inch below the handle) [Refer to
position A in Fig. 12]). The fan-like noise indicates
that the lawn mower blade is turning.

Release the control bar (Refer to position B in
Fig. 13). You should hear a “bang”. The blade should
stop in three seconds.

Immediately push the lawn mower over the
newspaper ball.

Turn off the engine and wait for all moving parts to
stop.
