Using the Self-propel Drive
To operate the self-propel drive, simply walk with your
hands on the upper handle and your elbows at your
sides, and the mower will automatically keep pace with
you (Figure 22).

Note:
If, when backing up after self-propelling, the
mower does not roll backward freely, nudge the mower
forward about an inch or two without engaging the
self-propel drive (Figure 22), then pull the mower
backward.
Engaging the Blade
When you start the engine the blade does not turn. You
must engage the blade to mow.
1. Push the blade control button and pull the blade
control bar to the handle (Figure 23).

Disengaging the Blade
Release the blade control bar (Figure 25).

When you release the blade control
bar, the blade should stop within 3 seconds. If
it does not stop properly, stop using your mower
