Carbon monoxide, or CO, is an odorless, colorless gas that can cause sudden illness and death. CO is
found in combustion fumes, such as those produced by vehicles, small gasoline engines, stoves, lanterns,
burning charcoal and wood, and gas ranges and heating systems. CO from these sources can build up
in enclosed or semi-enclosed spaces.
If alarm sounds or you experience sysptoms which could be from CO poisioning:
• Turn off appliances, as well as other sources of combustion at once (furnace, water
heater, cooktop, recreation vehicle, etc.), and call the fire department.
• Get fresh air into the premises or vehicle by opening doors and windows and
evacuate the recreation vehicle.
• Have a qualified service technician inspect and repair any issue before starting
appliances, the generator, or the recreation vehicle.
Never run the engine and/or the generator unless you are sure that exhaust gases will be safely dispersed
into the atmosphere. Always be sure that tail pipes remain unblocked and windows near the exhaust are
closed.
