3.3 

Repairing the Winch

3.3.1 

GET FACTORY AUTHORIZATION for all repairs. Unauthorized repairs 

will void the warranty and may lead to damage or failure of the winch.

3.3.2 

REPLACE DAMAGED OR POORLY OPERATING PARTS with Thern 

repair parts.

MOTOR BRUSH LIFE will vary depending on use and duty cycle. Expect 

approximately 70-75 hours of runtime if frequently running loaded. Contact 

Thern for replacement kit.

3.3.3 

REFINISH AREAS

 or replace components where the finish is worn or 

flaking. A good finish helps to protect against corrosion and weather damage.

REMOVE THE FINISH from damaged areas down to the bare metal.

CLEAN THE AREA thoroughly.

REPAINT 

with a high quality primer and finishing coat.

DO NOT APPLY PAINT to plated winch components.

3.3.4 

TO ORDER REPAIR PARTS, contact your local dealer. Include the 

following information when ordering:

•  model number
•  serial number (or code number)
•  part number
•  date purchased, and from whom
•  description of what happened or what is wrong
•  your name and return address

3.3.5 

THE GEARMOTOR of Thern Liberty Capstan is a sealed motor that comes 

lubricated from the factory for the life of the winch. Changing or adding 

lubricant is not required.
