Chapter 6
Firmware Update
From time to time you will be informed about new software updates. Proceed as follows to
update the firmware of your device:
1. Save two files to a USB memory stick:
a. the update file -*.update
b. the signature file - *.sign
2. Insert the USB memory stick into the USB port of your device.
3. Tap the “Settings” icon on the Main Navigation Bar.
4. Tap the “Firmware” button on the “Settings” screen.
Follow the instructions on the screen and wait for the update to be completed.
Access Control
Tapping the “Access Control” button in the “Settings” screen takes you to the
“Login” screen shown in Figure 42. After entering the passcode the “Access Control”
screen Figure 108 is shown. The “Access Control” screen allows you to activate “Secure”
mode, in which a passcode will be requested from all users who want to change its settings.

By default, the biological safety cabinet is in “Open” mode, that is, you do not need to
enter a passcode to access and operate the unit.
With a new login the mode can be changed again. Changing the access mode from
“Open” to “Secure” requires the Admin passcode.

NOTE The Admin passcode is 0418. The “Factory Settings” and “Field
Certification” screens require specific passcodes, which are different from the
Admin passcode. These screens are reserved for Thermo Scientific field service.
