6.6.2
Method Editor—Source Settings, Easy View
The ISQ EC and ISQ EM instrument method editor features an easy and
advanced mode for setting the source parameters. In the easy mode, all
relevant source settings are calculated automatically based upon the pump
flow value. This value is automatically derived if the front-end pump is
associated in the instrument configuration. See
Section 6.4: Configuring the
If the pump is not associated, the user must manually enter a pump flow
value to calculate all the necessary source values. These parameters are
calculated into three (for HESI methods) or four (for APCI methods) separate
slider bars that control different aspects of source functions. The user can
hover over each slider bar to see the actual values that are applied. As the
sliders are moved up and down, the underlying algorithms calculate new
iterative values from the default setting. See Table 8.
Parameter
Description
Use This Detector
Select the check box to enable the
currently installed detector.
Installed Probe Type
Indicates the installed probe type. For an
ISQ EC MS, the only choice is HESI, for an
ISQ EM MS, the choices are HESI and
APCI.
Method Source Type
Set this to the source type for the
method you are developing. This does
not need to be the installed source type,
although you can only run methods for
the installed source type.
More Robustness – More Sensitivity
Selects whether more sensitivity or more
robustness is desired.
Less Volatile Mobile Phase – Highly Volatile
Mobile Phase
Slider is used to select whether the
mobile phase is volatile or nonvolatile
Thermally Stabile Analyte – Thermally Labile
Analyte
Slider is used to select whether analyte is
stable or labile (unstable).
Total Pump Flow
Amount of liquid that flows from the LC
(mL/min)
Instrument Flow
Percentage of the total pump flow that
goes to the MS. This can be changed by
using the Split Flow parameter in
Instrument Configuration.
