2.6 Electrode Information
The Eutech DO 1730 dissolved oxygen meter is
compatible with galvanic dissolved oxygen electrodes with
BNC and mini phono plug connectors. The Eutech DO
1730 dissolved oxygen meter can be purchased in a meter
only configuration (purchase electrode separately) or kitted
with a dissolved oxygen electrode.
The Eutech DO electrode included with the Eutech DO
1730 DO meter kit measures dissolved oxygen and
temperature. This DO electrode has 12 mm body diameter
and 16 mm cap diameter. The compact sensing area
reduces air entrapment, facilitating quick, accurate and
stable readings.
Protect the membrane of the DO electrode from scratches,
abrasion, or contact with solids. The membrane can be
replaced if damaged.
Rinse the DO electrode after each use with clean water to
avoid any hardening of deposits or bacterial growth.
For best results, sample stirring is recommended. A
minimum water flow rate of 2 inch/second on the
membrane is ideal.
The DO electrode is not recommended for samples below
0 °C or above 50 °C.
Refer to the electrode instructions for specific care and
maintenance procedures. The following are general
recommendations for electrode preparation.
Remove the packaging from the electrode and save
for storage.
Unscrew the membrane cap from the electrode.
Rinse the inside and outside of the cap with distilled
or deionized water and blot dry.
Rinse the anode/cathode of the electrode with
distilled or deionized water and blot dry.
Mount the nozzle tip onto the syringe included with
the DO electrode. Fill the syringe with the electrolyte
solution through the tip of the plastic bottle.
Hold the electrode upside down. Insert the nozzle
tip into one of the four holes surrounding the silver
cathode. Inject the fill solution into the DO electrode
body until solution leaks out from the fill hole
(approximately 5 mL).
Allow at least 1 hour for the electrode to equilibrate
before usage.
Screw the membrane cap onto the electrode until
the cap is hand-tight.
Allow at least 1 hour for the electrode to equilibrate
before usage.
Rinse the electrode using distilled water.
2.7 Meter Startup
Sequence
When the meter is powered on, it displays a set of startup
screens, starting with all segments lit screen, followed by
the meter info screen and then the meter self-test screen.
The meter info screen shows the meter model number and
current software revision.
After the meter info screen, the meter performs a series of
internal self-tests to verify that the meter is operating
correctly and then the self-test results are shown.
Finally, the meter proceeds to the main measure mode.
