The DATA Extra HIU, Installation Instructions DE2, 12th August 2021
Stage 7 - Commissioning
Follow the steps below for connecting and commissioning the HIU. (assuming all hydraulic systems are filled and vented)
1. Close all isolation valves in the property.
2. Check all coupling nuts for leakage. (nuts may become loose during transport)
3. Make sure the electronics are securely mounted into the rear casing and ensure cables will not foul the front casing when fitted.
4. Connect the units power cable to the power outlet.
Blue cable: N (Neutral)
Brown cable: L (Live)
Green/yellow cable: E (Earth)
5. Switch on the power supply to the unit. The DHW module should show a green blinking light.
6. Slowly open the district heating flow valve and check for leakage.
7. Slowly open the district heating return valve and check for leakage.
8. Fully open all (thermostatic) radiator valves in the property.
9. Bleed the central heating system. Start at the lowest and finish at the highest radiator or venting point (see chapter "Venting the
Heating System"). Fill the heating system to a pressure of 2 bar. The pressure in the heating system should not fall below 1 bar.
10. Check that the central heating controls are calling for heat. The CH control valve will show 1,2,3,4 or 5 lights and the system begins
to warm.
11. Slowly open a hot tap in the property. Check to see if the units DHW module shows a blue blinking light. Open the hot tap completely
when the system is fully bled and leave it running for approximately 5 minutes. After 3 to 5 minutes check the water temperature at the
tap is between 45°C and 60°C (Depending on the setpoint).
12. Bleed the unit. (see chapter "Venting the Heating System").
13. Close the hot tap in the property. The DHW module will now show a green blinking light.
