• Now point the measuring sensor at a suitable measuring
spot in the middle of the forehead at a distance of about
1 to 4 cm.
• Hold it steadily at this position and press the measuring
button. «- - - -» is displayed.
• A beep will sound once the measurement is completed,
after approx. 1 second. The unit now displays the sym-
bol for body temperature mode (default mode) and the
measured temperature. If the temperature taken is lower
than 32°C, LO is displayed. If the temperature is higher
than 42°C, HI appears.
• The device switches off automatically after approx.
7 seconds, if no button is pressed.
• For repeated accurate measurements, always measure
at the same spot.
REMEMBER:
• The forehead temperature is equivalent to oral tempera-
ture (oral temperature is normally 0.5°C less than rectal
measured temperature.) This is based on the average
population. For some people it may be different and it is
recommended to learn and recognize the forehead tem-
perature while healthy.
• Alternatively, you can also measure the body tempera-
ture in the ear hole, on the earlobe or under the armpit.
7.2 Measuring surface temperature
• After power on, press and hold the measuring button.
The symbol for body temperature mode is flashing.
Press the measuring button briefly. The surface tempera-
ture mode symbol is flashing. Press and hold the meas-
uring button for 3 seconds to confirm the selection.
•
Caution:
If you do not make any settings, the symbol
continues to flash. The device does not switch off auto-
matically.
• Simply aim at the target and press the measuring but-
ton. A beep will sound once the measurement is com-
pleted, after approx. 1 second. The unit now displays the
symbol for surface temperature mode and the measured
temperature.
Note:
• This mode shows the actual and unadjusted surface
temperature which is different from body temperature.

6. Getting started
• The battery compartment is located on the back of the
device. Open the battery compartment by sliding the
battery cover down.
• Insert two new AAA 1.5 V batteries with the correct
polarity.
• After inserting the batteries, the device automatically
enters the temperature unit setting mode. You will hear
two beeps and °C is flashing. Press the measuring but-
ton briefly to select between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit
(°F) as the temperature unit while the display is flashing.
Press and hold the measuring button for 3 seconds to
confirm the selection. The device switches off. If you do
not make any settings, the device switches off automati-
cally after approx. 30 seconds. The default setting is °C.
• Close the battery compartment again. The cover is pro-
perly inserted in the housing, as soon as a click is heard.
7. Operation
7.1 Measuring body temperature on the forehead (Fig. 2)
• Avoid taking a measurement less than 30 minutes after
physical exercise, bathing or dining.
• The thermometer and the person to be measured should
be in the same room under constant ambient conditions
at least 15 minutes before the measurement.
• Always make sure that the sensor is clean and un-
damaged.
• Clean the forehead from sweat, makeup, etc
