WARNING: Use caution when you work around the heated pitot tubes. The
heating elements can cause severe burns.
CAUTION:
Do not use the pilot PFD to find a leak in the pilot pitot-static system.
The air data test set is the only instrument calibrated to do a check
for leaks in the pitot-static system.
CAUTION:
Do not apply pressure to the static system, apply only vacuum. Do
not apply vacuum to pitot system.
CAUTION:
Do not do a leak test with soap and water or any liquid.
CAUTION:
Do not let the airspeed indication decrease to less than 100 knots or
increase to more than 300 knots. Do not let the altimeter indication
go to more than 45,000 feet (13,716 m) high or 100 feet (30.48 m)
below sea level. Do not let the rate-of-climb go more than +6000
feet per minute (1829 m/min) or -6000 feet-per-minute (-1829 m/
min).
CAUTION:
Do not use the pitot tube heaters on the ground anymore than
necessary. Extended ground operation of the pitot tube heaters can
damage the heating elements.
CAUTION:
Incorrect pitot-static system connections can cause damage to the
instruments.
(1)
Make sure that all of the components are correctly connected to the related pitot and static lines.
(2)
Do a visual check of the pitot and static lines for dry rot, cracks, cuts, abrasions, and general
condition of the static line material.
(3)
Connect the external electrical ground power unit (GPU) to the airplane.
(a)
Adjust the electrical power to 28.5 VDC, +0.25 or -0.25 VDC.
(4)
Put the circuit breakers in the positions shown in Table 601.
