TUSS44x0 EVM for Ultrasonic Sensors User's Guide
1
Introduction
The BOOSTXL-TUSS44x0 EVM is a fully assembled evaluation module (EVM) designed for the combined
evaluation of the TUSS44x0 ultrasonic-sensor signal conditioner IC and ultrasonic transducer.
The accompanying MSP430F5529 LaunchPad™ Development Kit (MSP-EXP430F5529LP) is used as the
USB-to-PC GUI communication bridge as an example on how to implement a master MCU to
communicate with and control the TUSS44x0 through SPI and GPIO interfaces.
NOTE:
The BOOSTXL-TUSS44x0 requires an external master controller to evaluate the TUSS44x0.
The TUSS44x0 is exclusively a slave device.
The MSP-EXP430F5529LP is controlled by commands received from the BOOSTXL-TUSS44x0 EVM
GUI, and returns data to the GUI for display and further analysis. If the MSP-EXP430F5529LP is not used,
the BoosterPack™ Plug-in Module format of the TUSS44x0 EVM allows alternative external master
communication to the TUSS44x0.
The BOOSTXL-TUSS44x0 incorporates all required circuitry and components for operation with the
following features:
•
TUSS44x0 ultrasonic sensor signal conditioner IC
•
Multiple test points for various analog and digital signals
•
Ultrasonic sensing transducer for mono-static time-of-flight measurements
shows the TUSS44x0 EVM architecture, identifying the key components and blocks previously
listed.
