Before using the Percolator for the first time:
The tank has graduated levels corresponding to the
number of cups your coffee maker can brew. Fill the
tank with fresh tap water up to the “10” (MAX) mark.
Do NOT overfill.
Close the tank lid. Ensure it locks into place.
Place the carafe centrally on the hotplate. The spring
valve in the filter holder should engage with the
aperture in the carafe lid.
Press the Mains ON/OFF Button. The switch will light
up showing the unit is operational.
The water will now percolate through the filter and
into the carafe. When the brewing cycle is complete
(no more water entering the carafe) switch the machine off and empty the
carafe. Carry out 2 or 3 full cycles and then switch off the machine.
Preparing Coffee
Unplug the unit from the mains supply.
Fill the water tank with fresh cold water to the level corresponding to the
number of cups required. (You can use the carafe which has a scale on the
side for filling if you wish).
Open the lid. Remove the filter and spoon in the required amount of coffee
grains - typically 6-7g. per cup, or to taste. Do not fill above the level of the
gauze in the filter.
Place the filter holder in the unit and
insert the filter into the filter holder.
Place the coffee pot on the hot plate.
Ensure that the hole in the lid of the
pot engages with the spring valve in
the machine or the coffee may not flow
properly.
DO NOT OVERFILL Close the lid.
Plug the unit into the mains and switch on at the mains. Press the ON/OFF
button. The operating light will come on.
When all the coffee has run into the coffee pot:
Wait for one minute after all the coffee has finished running into the carafe.
Remove the carafe and pour out the coffee.
After use switch the machine off and unplug from the mains supply.
NOTE 1:
At any time during the brewing cycle you can temporarily remove
the carafe to serve a cup of hot coffee. The brewing cycle will not be inter-
rupted and no coffee will drip from the appliance. To restart the brewing
cycle the carafe must be replaced in the machine within 30 sec. NEVER
replace an empty carafe on the hot plate while it is hot or it may crack.
NOTE 2:
When the brewing cycle is over the machine will switch to a
“keep warm state”. The hot plate will stay on for 40 minutes to keep the
coffee warm, after which time the unit will switch off.
Ideally coffee should always be served as soon as possible after brewing.
