How to Disassemble the
Secondary Boom
Bodily injury hazard. This
procedure requires specific repair
skills, lifting equipment and a
suitable workshop. Attempting
this procedure without these skills
and tools could result in death or
serious injury and significant
component damage. Dealer
service is strongly recommended.
Follow the disassembly steps to the point required
to complete the repair. Then re-assemble the
secondary boom by following the disassembly
steps in reverse order.
Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,
the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or hose
end must be replaced. All connections must be
torqued to specification during installation. Refer to
Specifications,
Hydraulic Hose and Fitting Torque
Specifications.

Remove the rear turntable cover.

Place a suitable lifting device under the
platform for support.

Disconnect the battery.
4
Remove the cable cover from the side of the
jib boom.
5
Remove the wire loom from the cables at the
platform control box.

Locate the cables from the primary boom
cable track to the platform control box.
Number each cable and its entry location at
the platform control box.

Open the platform control box.

Tag and disconnect each wire from the cables
in the platform control box.
Electrocution/burn hazard.
Contact with electrically charged
circuits could result in death or
serious injury. Remove all rings,
watches and other jewelry.

Pull the cables out of the platform control box.
10 Pull all of the electrical cables out of the plastic
cable track. Do not pull out the hydraulic
hoses.
11 Remove the hose clamps from the bottom side
of the primary boom.
12 Tag, disconnect and plug the hydraulic hoses
at the union located on the bottom side of the
primary boom. Cap the fittings on the union.
Bodily injury hazard. Spraying
hydraulic oil can penetrate and
burn skin. Loosen hydraulic
connections very slowly to allow
the oil pressure to dissipate
gradually. Do not allow oil to
squirt or spray.
13 Remove the hose clamp from the side of the
primary boom at the pivot end.
14 Remove the primary boom extend drive speed
limit switch mounted on the side of the primary
boom at the pivot end. Do not disconnect the
wiring.
15 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead crane
to the pivot end of the primary boom.
16 Using the overhead crane, carefully lift the
secondary and primary boom assembly until
the master cylinder and primary boom lift
cylinder hydraulic hoses are accessible.
