HOPPER DOOR LINEAR ACTUATOR
The hopper door actuator uses two circuits to
operate the linear actuator. Within the actuator
motor assembly, are limit switches that open the
control circuit at the end of the actuator stroke.
The electrical components needed to operate
the hopper door are:
Key switch, CB–5, CB–6, Hopper dump switch
M5 and M6 relays, Hopper door actuator.
1. Control circuit
With the key switch in the run position, current
flows from the battery, through the key switch,
CB–5, and to the hopper lift switch to energize
either the extend relay or retract relay.
–– Selecting the open momentary position on the
hopper lift switch will energize the M5 extend
relay provided that the internal extend limit
switch is closed inside the hopper door linear
actuator. When the actuator reaches the full
extended position, the extend limit switch inside
the actuator opens the control circuit and
de–energizes the M5 relay. (fig. 6)
–– Selecting the closed momentary position on
the hopper lift switch will energize the M6 retract
relay, provided that the internal retract limit
switch is closed inside the hopper door linear
actuator. When the actuator reaches the full
retracted position, the retract limit switch inside
the actuator opens the control circuit and
de–energizes the M6 relay. (fig. 7)
2. Power circuit
–– To extend the actuator, unsw36 volt
battery current flows through circuit breaker
CB–6 and passes through the normally open
contacts (now closed) of the extend relay M5.
From that relay, current continues through the
motor, the normally closed contacts of the
de–energizes retract relay M6, and finally to –36
volt battery negative. (fig. 8)
–– To retract the actuator, unsw36 volt
battery current flows through circuit breaker
CB–6 and passes through the normally open
contacts (now closed) of the retract relay M6.
From that relay, current continues through the
motor, the normally closed contacts of the
de–energizes extend relay M5, and finally to –36
volt battery negative. (fig. 9)
