Connecting a cable
1.
Make sure you have the correct cable for the
device to which you are connecting. If you use the
wrong cable, the PTC may not be able to
communicate.
2.
Turn off the PTC and the computer or accessory
to which you are connecting.

Do not force any connectors to-
gether if they do not mate easily;
you could damage them.
3.
Connect the micro DB-15 connector on the
appropriate cable to the PTC’s micro DB-15
connector.
4.
Connect the other end of the cable to the
computer or accessory.
5.
Turn on the PTC and then turn on the device to
which it is connected.
6.
Follow the instructions for your application
program to communicate.
Disconnecting a cable
1.
Turn off the PTC.
2.
Turn off the attached computer or accessory.

Pull on the cable connector’s head
when disconnecting. Pulling on the
cable can break the internal wires.
3.
Pull the cable’s connector directly away from the
PTC’s micro DB-15 connector.
4.
If necessary, disconnect the other end of the cable
from the computer or accessory.
Using the optical communication cradle

SC-960RL/SC-960L User’s
Guide
for instructions on using the
PTC-960RL with the cradle.
The PTC-960RL’s optical coupler converts electronic
signals inside the PTC into pulses of light that can be
detected by the SC-960RL Single-bay Communication
Cradle.
