NET-PATH Test, Incoming
Inform your Polling and Analysis Center that the NET-PATH is ready to receive its
database. The technician there should verify the database contains parameters for
reporting fixed events, such as a change of state in sensor inputs. Use this capability
to verify outgoing calls.
When the Polling and Analysis Center places a call to the NET-PATH, observe the
following:

The Off-Hook indication (OH: Y) appears when the NET-PATH answers the call.

At the conclusion of the call, the Off-Hook indicator will display OH:N. It may
take up to a minute for the LCD display to refresh and accurately display the
conditions.

Transparency to Host
Perform a transparency test to verify the installation. After downloading the initial
database to the NET-PATH, the system administrator or a technician at the Polling and
Analysis Center should establish a transparent connection to each of the attached
serial devices to verify that communication parameters are correct. If the Polling and
Analysis Center is not available, you can go transparent to an attached host device
using the NET-PATH Command Line Interface. See “Useful Command Line Interface
Commands” on page 3-5.
If a serial connection does not function as expected, verify the port communications
parameters in the NET-PATH database match those of the attached host device, and
that the proper cable is installed.
NET-PATH Test Outgoing
Create a fixed event that the NET-PATH can detect and report. This event must be
defined in the database that the Polling and Analysis Center downloads.

When the NET-PATH places the call, the Off-Hook indicator should display
OH:Y.

When the NET-PATH terminates the call, the Off-Hook indicator displays OH:N.

Confirm with the Polling and Analysis Center that they received the event.
Additional configuration may be required at the Center before the received data
displays properly, but the Center should be able to confirm delivery of the alarm.

Storage/Relocation
To store or relocate the NET-PATH, unplug the commercial power and perform a
Shutdown procedure. See “Shutdown” on page 4-10.
