Turret Installation and Alignment
1)
Install turret refer to section 2.7 of the Isoplane SCT-320 manual
2)
Reinitialize the instrument and verify that when the magnets go by the magnet switch it recognizes by
slowing down the index motor driver. (2 magnets represent turret #2, 3 magnets turret#3)
3)
The SCT-320 incorporates a detent system to precisely index gratings into operating position. As shown in
the photograph below, the detent consists of a spring mechanism with ball bearing and a V-groove at each
grating position. As gratings are indexed into position, the ball bearing falls into the V-groove to insure
position accuracy.

4)
After initialization, the detent ball bearing should be centered in the middle of the V-groove. To test this,
move the grating index stepping motor (manually, by hand) +/-1/8
th
of a turn. The upper brass gear should not
turn. If the upper brass gear moves, then the index mechanism requires adjustment. This is accomplished by
adjusting the number of steps in Mono Control Software until the correct position is reached. Change the
number of steps by 10 steps at a time using the following procedure.
