Preinstallation Planning
Choosing a Location
When choosing a location for the NetBlazer, make certain that you have the
appropriate number of AC outlets, cables, telephone lines, and LAN con-
nections for the NetBlazer and its externally connected devices (e.g., mo-
dems and terminal adapters). Avoid locating the NetBlazer in direct sunlight
or near heating vents.
General Planning
To install your NetBlazer, follow these general steps:
•
Configure and install the option boards (refer to the separate option
board setup document as necessary).
•
Connect AC power.
•
Connect the LAN interfaces.
•
Connect the WAN interfaces.
•
Configure the NetBlazer software (refer to the Configuration Guide
and/or the Setup Utility Guide).
Note:
The following cables and adapters were shipped with your NetBlazer. They
support a variety of options for connecting an administrator’s workstation
to a NetBlazer.
•
One 6-ft. RS-232 cable (DB-25 male to DB-25 female,
part number 12732-01)
•
Two 1-ft. RS-232 cables (DB-25 male to DB-9 female,
part number 14339-01)
•
One null-modem adapter (part number 14375-01)
•
One gender adapter (part number 14338-01)
