Protocol activity is filtered during real time acquisition of the Training Sequence and each significant change is captured and
time-stamped while redundant messages are discarded. This dramatically reduces the volume of data stored and expedites
viewing of results.
Waveform data is recorded with each captured protocol event using FastFrame acquisition mode in the oscilloscope. This
provides analog signaling information coincident with key training events for additional insight.
Because two asynchronous training conversations are taking place on a lane at one time and monitored by a single oscilloscope,
it is possible that some recorded Control Channel events will occur closer in time than the oscilloscope FastFrame rearm time.
For example, a Control Channel event triggers storage of a Frame (analog waveform data) but a closely-following Control
Channel event in the other direction occurs before the next Frame is available for trigger. In this case, the first protocol event will
have corresponding waveform information but the second event will not. In all cases, protocol events and their time of occurrence
are captured.
Protocol information is decoded and marked in both a waveform view and results table view.
FastFrame records are shown in the upper view with time-aligned Hex and bit-level decoding. Marks indicating Frame, Control
Channel and Training Data are also shown above the view depending on the duration and information contained within an
acquisition.
