AccuLoad IV Installation and Maintenance Manual
Installation
3 – Installation
The general steps in the installation process are to physically mount the AccuLoad, elec
-
trically connect it to the associated equipment and then tailor the configuration database
parameters to suit the specific operational and measurement environment. The following
sections cover the mounting and wiring. Refer to the AccuLoad IV Specification
for the mounting dimensions. For information regarding the proper settings in the con
-
figuration database, refer to the AccuLoad IV Operators Reference Manual
3.1.
Electrical Installation
3.1.1.
For ATEX & IEC EX – Approved Installations
(Models ST and QT only)
(a) Cable Entry must be in accordance to IEC 60079-1 section 13:
For wiring systems utilizing cable glands, the gland and/or thread adaptor must
be Ex d certified. The cable end must be securely installed and, depending on the
cable type, be properly protected from mechanical damage. Requirements outlined
in Section 10.4 of IEC 60079-14 shall be followed.
For wiring systems utilizing conduit, an Ex d certified sealing device must be imme
-
diately at the entrance of the enclosure. Any unused entry must be suitably blocked
with an Ex d IIB IP 65 certified plug for ATEX and IECEx applications. For North
American Zone applications, the plug must be listed close up type. Requirements
outlined in Section 10.5 of IEC 60079-14 shall be followed.
(b) Installation:
General Installation to be in accordance with IEC 60079-14, wiring system to be in
accordance with section 9.
(c) Special conditions for safe use:
•
Select wiring and cable glands suitable for 81°C operation.
•
Flame Path Dimensions: Flanged joint widths are 19.05 mm minimum The clear
-
ance between the flat joint surfaces is less than 0.05 mm (0.002") or such that
a (0.002") feeler gauge will not enter the joint more than (0.125”) 3.2 mm at any
point. Flameproof joints shall be maintained as outlined in section 10.4 or IEC
60079-14.
(d) Cover Fasteners:
Special Fasteners: Cover Bolts – steel grade 12.9, M8 x 1.25.
(e) Warnings:
To prevent ignition of hazardous atmospheres, disconnect from supply before open
-
ing. Keep tightly closed when circuits are alive. Contains internal battery-powered
circuit, to prevent the ignition of hazardous atmospheres, do not open enclosure
unless the area is known to be non-hazardous. To reduce the risk of ignition of
hazardous atmospheres, conduit runs must have a sealing fitting connected within
18 inches of the enclosure. Substitution of components may impair intrinsic safety.
Note:
The maximum ambient temperature for the enclosure is 60°C for ATEX and
IECEx applications and 55°C for North American Zone applications.
