CONNECTING A HIGH-DEFINITION (HD) SOURCE USING CONNECTION

High - Definition (HD) Devices with component video output must be connect ed t o the Y input .

CONNECTING A HIGH-DEFINITION (HD) SOURCE USING HDMI CONNECTION
HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Inter face ) s uppor ts both video and audio on a single digital connection
for use with DVD players , DTV , set - top boxes and other digital AV devices . HDMI was developed to provide
the t echnologies o f High Bandwidth Digital Cont ent Pr otection (HDCP) as well as Digital Visual Int erface
( DVI ) in one specification . HDCP is used to protect digital content transmitted and received by
DVI - compliant or HDMIcompliant displays.
HDMI has the cap ability t o suppor t standar d , e nhanced or high-definition video plus standar d to
multi - channel surr ound - sound audio. HDMI featur es include uncompr essed digital video, a b andwidth o f
up t o 2.2 gigabytes per second (with HD TV signals), one connect or (inst ead o f several cables and
connectors ), a nd communication between the A V sour ce and A V devices such as D TVs .
