Controls, Systems and Operations
Completion of a successful brush clean resets the
Brush Clean Cycle timer and removes the locked
condition. After the unit is placed “in use”, the Brush
Clean Cycle timer counts the hours since brush
clean up from 00 through 99, then A1 through A9,
B1 through B9, etc.
A screen showing the status of the elements
required for a brush clean is displayed when the
power switch is in the OFF position and the machine
is not in a brush clean state. (See Figure 63.)

state.

Line 4:
Shows the barrel temperature.
If any of the requirements for a brush clean have not
been met, the time displayed will remain at 5:00
minutes. When all the requirements for a brush
clean are met, the screen will change to the
standard Power Switch Off screen. (See Figure 64.)

Bad Thermistor Detection
Three codes have been set up to assist the service
technician in diagnosing a machine for faulty
thermistor probes.
“SHRT”
will be displayed on the VFD screen if a
probe has shorted (resistance less than 1 ohm) for
its respective machine location.
“OPEN”
will be displayed if the probe is open
(resistance above 1 megohm).
“OVER”
will be displayed if the actual probe
environment exceeds 200 F° (93 C°), indicating that
the temperature is “out of range”.
Memory Initialization
The UVC4 platform supports multiple languages by
keeping specific strings in program memory. The
currently selected language is copied into NVRAM
memory for faster access. After power-up or a CPU
reset, the strings in NVRAM memory are tested to
see if the language strings are corrupted. If the
strings are corrupted, the language selected will be
forced to English. (See Figures 65 and 66.)
