4 – Recording
Recording slate tones
During recording, playback or monitoring, press the SLATE
button on the back of the unit to output a slate tone at the point
you want.
During recording, inserted slate tones can be added to files.
For details about how to connect the unit with a DSLR camera,
see “Camera connections” on page 16.
NOTE
In order to prevent misoperation, the
SLATE
button must be
held briefly to insert a slate tone.
Slate tones are output from the
LINE OUT
and
OUT
jacks.

Inputting time code and adding
recording start times to files
Setting the time code source input
This sets the source of input time code.
1. On the
TIME CODE
page, select the
SELECT
item. (see
“Menu operation procedures” on page 12)
2. Set the time code input source.
Option
Meaning
LTC
(default)
Time code is input through the TIME CODE IN
connector.
If timecode has not been input when the unit is
in its initial state, the timecode will be stopped at
00:00:00:00.
The unit synchronizes to time code when it is
being input.
If timecode input is interrupted, the unit will run
by itself.
If the input resumes, the unit synchronizes with
that input.
HDMI
Time code is input through the HDMI IN port,
and the unit synchronizes with the input time
code.
The unit stops time code if HDMI is disconnected.
RTC
Time code is generated from the time of the
unit's built-in clock.
When the unit is turned on, this mode is
activated or the built-in clock is reset, the unit
captures the time from the built-in clock and
runs by itself.
3. When finished, press the MENU button to return to the
Home Screen.
