SPECIFICATIONS
TASCAM's 302mkII and 322 cassette decks are sister
products, designed to offer the simplicity of a standard
dual cassette deck, yet the sophistication for the most
demanding A/V installation. These decks are well suited
for almost any recording or playback application.
Both decks offer optical leader sensing, allowing the deck
to minimize the play or record time lost in reversing tape
direction. The decks can operate independently with their
own audio I/O, or they can work together for dual
recording of a single master. Built-in cascade out and
transport logic also allows multiple machines to be used in
duplication rigs or logging set-ups.
The 322 adds an RS-232 control port for use with
advanced control systems, as well as an optional slot for
the LA-322 Balancing Kit.
Meeting Facilities
(Boardrooms, Lecture Halls, etc)
The 302mkII and 322 are commonly used in installed sound for meeting
spaces because of their flexibility for playback and recording
simultaneously. The 322 can record a meeting while playing back a
different tape. These are ideal for logging applications as well, since
multiple machines can be linked together for longer recording capacity.
House of Worship, Live Theater, Multipurpose Rooms
Many houses of worship are making recordings of their services for
members who could not attend. The 302mkII and 322 are ideal decks for
this, taking advantage of optical leader sensing to minimize the time lost
while reversing tape direction. Since the two wells of the 302mkII can
work independently, one well could be used for cueing a tape while the
other well is playing. The 322's ability to add the LA-322 Balancing Kit
allows direct connection to balanced devices.
Control System Integration
In applications where control systems are being integrated, the RS-232
port on the 322 is perfect. Many designers and installers are using the
status information from the RS-232 port to build intelligent automated
dubbing systems and logging rigs, or to simply report the cassette status to
a touch panel at a lectern. For more basic systems, the wired port on the
rear of the 302mkII or 322 offers control from IR/Serial outputs.
Music Educators - Dance Instructors - Health Clubs
Band, Choir, Theater and Dance programs often need to be able to make
copies of rehearsal tapes for their performers to practice with. Many
competitions for dance and music still require masters to be submitted on
cassette. The 302mkII and 322 offer high quality masters and tape speed
control (up to
±
10%). Since the speed control is separate per deck, the
speed change can be committed to a separate tape.
