1. Set the SCSI ID by pushing the + or  -  on the SCSI address

switch.

Note: Do not select an address that is already in use.

2. Press the power switch to ensure power is off.

3. Plug the power cord into the power receptacle on the back of

the tape drive and the other end into a grounded electrical
outlet.

4. Connect the SCSI bus cable between the host and the tape

drive.

5. Install he SCSI terminator.

6. Press the power switch to power on the tape drive. The tape

drive runs the Power-On Self Test.

7. Refer to your host and application software manuals to

configure the tape drive for use.

The tape drive has no power, or is powered off.

The tape drive is powered on.

One of the following applies:

If the light flashes less than once per second,
the tape drive is in sleep mode.
If the light flashes once per second, the tape
drive is reading from the tape, writing to the
tape, rewinding the tape, or locating data on
the tape.

One of the following applies:

The tape drive is performing a selected

operation

The tape drive is displaying the drive error

code log.

The tape drive is in maintenance mode or is

exiting maintenance mode.

One of the following applies:

If the light flashes less than once per second,
the tape drive is updating firmware using the
field microcode replacement (FMR) tape, or
the drive has exceeded the recommended
temperature.
If the light flashes once per second, an error
occurred and the tape drive or media may
require service.
If the light flashes once per second and the C
displays in the single character display, the
tape drive needs to be cleaned.
If the light flashes twice per second, the tape
drive detected an error and is performing a
firmware recovery. Tape drive resets
automatically.
