8.2.3 Replacing the heater
1) When the top lid has been removed, you can
see the heater mounting nuts on the back of the
bath. After securing the inside of the bath with a
wrench, loosen the nuts. Remove the nuts on
both sides and extract the heater toward inside
the bath.
2) Attach the new heater, after checking that the
surface of the bath is free of foreign matter and
is clean where the packing makes contact.
Check also that the bath has one piece of
packing inside. Tighten the nuts securely.
3) After attaching the heater, fill the bath with water to check for leakages before installing.
8.2.4 Replacing the stirrer motor
!
Caution: Handle the agitation shaft with care. Careless handling may cause
shaft deflection.
1) Remove the top lid of the bath and place it on
a wide workbench.
2) Loosen the motor-side setscrews of the
agitation shaft using a 1.5 mm hex socket
head wrench. (Fig. 29)
3) Extract the agitation shaft from the motor. Do
not do this by holding the agitation shaft
directly, but by holding the shaft adapter.
4) Undo the motor mounting screws and replace
the motor. (Fig. 30)
5) Connect the motor lead wire to the metal
connector.
6) Attach the agitation shaft to the motor. A thin
Teflon sheet should be attached to the agitation
shaft to prevent vapor. Tighten the setscrews
directly to the plane of the motor shaft after
checking that there is a 1 mm space between
the motor and the agitation shaft.
7) Turn the base of the agitation shaft by hand to
check that the shaft does not deflect.
