Supplying Power to the Phone

Overview
The phone requires external power at all times. There are three options to power the
phone.
 Type A (for T207M, T208M, T208M/BL) provides Power over the Ethernet
(PoE) according to the IEEE 802.3AF standard. See Figure 21 .
 Type B (for T207M, T208M, T208M/BL) provides Power over the Ethernet
(PoE) according to the IEEE 802.3AF standard. See Figure 22 .
 Type C (for T207M, T207M/NP, T208M, T208M/BL) powers the phone from
a local AC power outlet. See Figure 23 .

Power over Ethernet “IEEE 802.3AF” - Type A & B
There are two options for supplying power over the Ethernet (PoE) to T207M, T208M
and T208M/BL telephones (according to the IEEE 802.3AF standard). The choice
depends on the existing LAN infrastructure within an organization.
Verify that all twisted pairs are properly installed before considering the Power over
Ethernet option. Full cable installation provides the necessary infrastructure of PoE
implementation.
PoE - Power over Ethernet LAN: Type A
For facilities with existing 10/100MB LAN infrastructures, there are two spare twisted
pairs (4, 5, 7 & 8 pins) of unused wires in their standard Category 5 LAN cabling that
can be utilized to carry power to IP devices on the network.
